Frankly, I don't know what the hell has gotten into me, but I had the weirdest urge to start a page dealing with hot beverages, free wireless internet access and the paranormal. It may have something to do with the link between investigating late at night and large amounts of caffeine to stay awake, or the fact that I got started in this field when I lived in Seattle. At any rate, this page is dedicated to all the night owls out there who haunt the streets well after dark.

BEVERAGE RECIPES & INGREDIENTS FOR CHOCOLAMANCY (magic through Chocolate) Chocolate Drink Recipe 1 ounce unsweetened baking chocolate (Nestle Abuelita sold in Mexican markets works well) 1 teaspoon vanilla 2/3 cup boiling water ground pepper of chilies to taste
Aztec Chocolate: Grate the unsweetened chocolate into a bowl and cover it with a little of the boiling water. Mash the mixture into a paste. Add the rest of the water and vanilla and beat with an electric mixer until frothy. Add the pepper and chilies to liven up the drink. The chocolate will not totally dissolve and will have a grittiness to it. For a more authentic drink let the mixture cool and then beat until frothy and drink. Spanish Chocolate: Follow the directions for the Aztec Chocolate omitting the pepper and chilies and add 3 teaspoons of sugar, plus a dash of cinnamon.

French Press Coffee - recommended blends BEST BLENDS: Starbucks Verona, Mexican Shade Grown Seattle’s Best 3 full scoops add chocolate beans for best results BEST DAMN COFFEE EVER: Vivace in Seattle. I used to live two blocks from 611 Supreme over on Pine Street - Capitol Hill District. My favorite activity for Sunday brunch was to wander in and get some of their excellent crepes. But what really made the morning was this French Press Coffee they served which just kicked my ass all over Puget Sound. Finally, YEARS later I called them and asked just what the hell they put in it, as even the blends mentioned above just didn't satisfy. http://www.espressovivace.com/locations.html Coarse grind is best, though I understand there is a setting specifically for French Press. 2 tablespoons to 2 cups of coffee.

GOURMET TEA Despite my dark and rough hewn background, I have always had an immense respect for the Japanese Tea Ceremony and the quality of fine tea. Lately, the meditative ritual that comes with it has been a source of reflection and wisdom in my life, forcing me to slow down and be in the moment. On the downside, I have become a bit of a hot tea snot, and can't drink any of the mass produced brands very well anymore, though this Southern Boy won't turn his nose up at any good, old fashioned iced tea.
Teavana Galleria Dallas & Northpark Mall http://store.teavana.com/ Extols the health virtues of their various teas. Some interesting freshly made tea drinks are available as well, though I understand that the Northpark store stopped making many of them much to my disappointment.
Dallas Galleria Central Market / Whole Foods - the bulk sections have some surprisingly good deals on quality leaf tea. Even though the prices can run upwards of $80 a pound, a small "dime-bag" will only set you back $2 - $4 if you want to try a sample. Many of the metaphysical and herb shops listed in the Dallas Metaphysical link page also sell quality teas.
